TOO MANY DISHES TO WASH? (Day 17 of 21)

Hello Reader,

Are your dirty dishes staring at you from a pile in the sink, day after day?

It seems to be a never-ending cycle.

Your root issue may be more than a lack of motivation or willpower. It may be something as simple as having TOO MANY dishes.

What happens when we have too many dishes is we use them…all of them…before we actually clean them.

Why clean them when you have another set ready to go?

This causes your sink to back up, which makes using your kitchen frustrating.

Then, you have two loads of dishes to cram into the dishwasher before you’re “caught up”.

Meanwhile, you are now eating off the plates that went through the first run of the dishwasher.

Begin never-ending and frustrating dish clutter cycle.

What if…

You got rid of any plates beyond a dishwasher load.

Say you hide all but 6 or 8. (for a family of 4). Put them in a box in the garage for a week or two.

Then, see what happens.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t want to be washing the same mug over and over to use it. I love my dishwasher.

However, if our level of clutter starts to make moments like actually using our kitchen frustrating, then life can get even more stressful.

Sometimes it's hard to believe that having too many dishes or too many clothes would cause us to do MORE work. It's almost counter-intuitive.

WE THINK... If you have lots of clothes, you do laundry less often. If you have lots of dishes, you run the dishwasher less often.

However, doing one small load of dishes or one small load of laundry every single day takes far less effort than trying to clean mountains of items up once a week.

It's these simple shifts in thought that I teach in The Big Declutter. If you are considering making your life easier this year, act now.

Yes, you can do this on your own. You don't need me in your inbox every single week with reminders.

However, life gets busy, and sometimes, having a specific task, an accountability partner, and someone helping you change your mindset so you can reach your goal is EXACTLY what you need.

The Big Declutter is my signature decluttering course that helps you consider not just what to declutter, but how to declutter and how to shift your clutter mindset.

✅ Every week you will get a workbook, video, AND access to the Membership Hub.

Keep your momentum going all year with weekly decluttering projects from The Big Declutter program. You can sign up for a 3-month, 6-month, or 12-month option (NO recurring payments. You simply select the time period you like. There are also no repeats!)

The sale ends soon, so don't miss your chance!

Sincerely,

Brooke, Happy Simple Mom

Decluttering Habits Tracker: Day 17 of 21

Today's Task: Find FIVE drinkware items to donate

Water bottles, plastic souvenir cups, mugs, kiddie cups, oh my! Find five you don't need and give them a new home.

Want input on what to toss or keep? Join the Simple Happy Moms Facebook group for accountability and support.

NEW HABIT: Stop buying "souvenir" cups. They are overpriced and not the drinkware items you really want in your home. Unless you actually NEED new cups, there's no reason to bring home one more giant plastic one.
